CLEVELAND — Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine and Lt. Gov. Jon Husted made a stop in Cleveland on Wednesday to kick off Ohio Tourism Day.
During the visit, DeWine announced that the state will return to "Ohio, The Heart of it All" as its tourism campaign slogan.
Previously, “Ohio, The Heart of it All” was used to promote tourism between 1984 and 2001.
"It is time for an update," said Gov. DeWine. "What we are promoting is more than a travel destination. We are promoting our great state holistically, not just tourism. We want people to come to Ohio, explore Ohio, and love our state as much as we do. We also want them to know this is a good place to live, work and raise a family.”
The announcement was made during a press conference at the Karamu House Theatre on East 89th Street in Cleveland. Officials, including Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb and Cleveland City Council President Blaine Griffin, attended the event.
While the slogan is a return to something familiar, DeWine highlighted that Ohio currently is the heart of adventure, opportunity, technology, family, education and creativity.
"Ohio, The Heart of it All, resonates with people at this time in our history, as we not only look back, but look forward," said DeWine. "I think it is a very forward-looking slogan that just resonates with people."

The new campaign will replace the "Ohio, Find it Here" campaign, which has promoted tourism across the state since 2016.
DeWine and Husted will also be making stops in Toledo and Dayton on Wednesday as part of the celebration of Ohio tourism.
