Investigator | Mystery in Chillicothe

Chillicothe residents fear a serial killer is at work.
July 1, 2015: Missing Chillicothe women

CHILLICOTHE, Ohio -- Yvonne Boggs and Angie Robinson are mothers with too much in common.

Fourteen months ago, their daughters went missing from their homes in southern Ohio. Tameka Lynch was 30, and she was Robinson's only daughter. Charlotte Trego, 28, was the youngest of Boggs' four children.

Trego and Lynch were struggling with heroin addiction. Both were mothers themselves, and they leaned on their mothers for support. It was unlike them to just walk away without a word, their mothers say.

But that's what happened in May 2014. Within days of each other, Lynch and Trego were gone.

Soon, other women in the Chillicothe area also went missing. Today, the total of missing women is six.

Four of those missing women have been found dead.

Lynch's body was discovered laying near a creek. Authorities say she overdosed on drugs, but her family questions how her body came to be near the water.

"I heard from her every single day no matter what," said Robinson. "I knew something was wrong when I went two days without hearing from her. Its changed my whole world. It will never be the same again."

Trego's whereabouts, and that of another woman, remains unknown.

In November, Wanda Lemons, 38, went missing. She has not been found.

"With her being gone this long and not getting in touch with me, it scares me," Boggs said. "It scares me that she is gone, that she is one of these victims."

The FBI has joined local law enforcement to investigate the case. Meanwhile, those around Chillicothe fear a serial killer is at work. Police say they can't prove or disprove the notion.

One suspect, a convicted sex offender, has been identified in connection with the death of Timberly Clayton, 38. She was shot three times.

Shasta Himelrick's body was found in the Scioto River last December. Himelrick was 20 and pregnant. Authorities believe she committed suicide.

Then on May 11, Tiffany Sayre, 26, was reported missing. Her body was found wrapped in a sheet and duct tape late last month. Her body was located near the same spot that Lynch's body was found.

"I believe that either one or two individuals are involved in the drug scene," said private investigator Michael Rolfes, who was hired by the Boggs family. "They are either trying to clean up the heroin addicts over here in Chillicothe or potentially we have a serial killer who is targeting women that are drug addicts and prostitutes."

Sheriff George Lavender Jr. said the investigation has yet to confirm or dispel whether a serial killer is responsible. A task force of local law enforcement continues to investigate. Officers have also pledged to crack down on the local drug trade that has inundated the city.

"It's just too many women out here that are unaccounted for and now that are being found deceased," Lavender said. "And we need answers."

Anyone with information is asked to call 740-774-3463. Callers may remain anonymous. A reward of $5,000 is available for information on each woman's case.
