Missing woman identified, search called off near Huron beach for weather

The U.S. Coast Guard, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Huron Fire and Police are all assisting with the search.

HURON, Ohio — A water search near Nickel Plate Beach was canceled Sunday evening for a missing 29-year-old woman. Huron police cite weather as a concern.

The search will resume Monday.

Police identify the woman as Brittany Young, of Vermilion. The U.S. Coast Guard says Young was swimming with family at Nickle Plate Beach just before 5 p.m. when she went under and did not surface. 

The U.S. Coast Guard, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources and Huron Fire and Police are all assisting with the search.
