Looking to renew your Ohio driver's license? Don't go to the BMV on Saturday

All driver's license and permit services will be unavailable due to a 'nationwide network maintenance outage.' However, all registration affairs will be available.

COLUMBUS, Ohio — If you're looking to obtain an Ohio driver's license or perhaps just get your card renewed, don't go to the BMV on Saturday.

The state Bureau of Motor Vehicles says all license and permit transactions will be unavailable tomorrow "due to a nationwide network maintenance outage impacting all state motor vehicle agencies in the country." The systems are expected to be down until sometime before 5 p.m., and the BMV plans to post an update on social media when they are up and running again.

While licenses can't be given out or renewed, customers can still obtain registration services in person as well as have other tasks completed. Many of these services are available on the BMV's website, including printing license plate stickers, title transfers, and driver knowledge tests.

There are ways to renew your license online, but this service will also be unavailable during the maintenance.
