The Mansfield Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is currently investigating after one man was seriously injured and another man suffered minor injuries in an ATV crash.
Troopers say that the two ATVs collided just after 4 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, on Thrush Road south of Beam Road in Sandusky Township.
Brian Claypool, 18, of Crestline, was driving 2001 Yamaha ATV eastbound, and entered the roadway from a yard. Troopers say Donald G. Collins III, 42, of Crestline was driving a white 2017 Chevrolet Express van southbound on Thrush Road. Collins then hit Claypool's ATV as it entered the roadway from the yard. Claypool was thrown from the ATV upon impact.
Claypool was taken to Ohio Health Mansfield by Springfield Township EMS. He was treated for serious injuries. Collins was treated at the scene by Springfield Township EMS for minor injuries and released.
Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be factors in the crash. Troopers are still investigating the incident. There is no word on Claypool's current condition.
