CLEVELAND — Yet more Rite Aid store closings are on the horizon as the pharmacy chain continues to make its way through its Chapter 11 bankruptcy process, according to court filings.
According to documents filed earlier this month with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court, another 36 stores are slated to close, including two in Ohio.
On April 2, Rite Aid listed a total of 30 stores to be shuttered. That list included the location on East Emmitt Avenue in Waverly. One day later, the company filed a new list with six more store closings, including the Warren location on Youngstown Road SE.
Rite Aid did not list an exact date as to when the closings will take place.
An initial list of 154 Rite Aid locations to be closed was revealed last October, shortly after the pharmacy chain first filed for Chapter 11. Six of the 154 closings were in Ohio, including locations in Massillon and Youngstown.
In November 2023, Rite Aid announced 32 more store closings, including Broadview Heights, Canton, East Liverpool, Fairlawn and Willoughby.
Rite Aid closed 55 more stores in late January, with 18 Ohio locations impacted.
