The Miami County Sheriff's Office in Southwest Ohio has finally given an identity to a "Jane Doe" woman murdered 37 years ago.

Marcia L. King, of Arkansas, was 21 years old when she was strangled and beaten to death on Apr. 24, 1981. Her body was discovered on a county road wearing a buckskin coat, but was so badly disfigured officials at the time could not figure out who she was.

Thanks to new technology and the help of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, authorities were able to reconstruct an image of what they felt "Buckskin Girl" might have looked like two years ago. Pollen studies of her clothing and a tracing of her locations and movements in the last year of her life also took place.

The body was positively identified as that of Marcia King this past Monday, and members of her family were notified. They have since requested privacy.

King's death remains an open homicide investigation. Anyone with information regarding the case is asked to call the Miami County Sheriff's Office Tip Line at (937) 440-3990 or leave at tip online at miamicountysheriff.org/contact-us-1.
