OHIO, USA — This was a lot of fun!
3News' Austin Love got behind the wheel of an RV to take on Ohio with the ultimate road trip throughout the state.
We called it "Austin Across Ohio."
Austin Across Ohio comes through a program known as RVShare. Think of it as an Airbnb, but for RVs.
“It may sound like a cliché, but your memories come from the journey as much as the destination when you do an RV trip," RVShare CEO Jon Gray tells 3News. "You find yourself maybe stopping at places maybe you wouldn’t ordinarily stop or being out under a sky where you could see under the stars because there’s no ambient light. There’s also a communal aspect of RVing where you meet some really cool people who are out connecting with nature like you are. It’s a really cool experience.”
Day 1: Wapakoneta
The first day of Austin's trek took him southwest to Wapakoneta, the hometown of Neil Armstrong. On the way, Austin stopped in Toledo, where he checked out the Toledo Speedway and Tony Packo's -- he was even allowed to sign one of their famous hot dog buns.
He also gave us a look inside his sweet RV.
Day 2: Dayton
On day 2, Austin spent time in Miamisburg and visited the Hamburger Wagon, which has been around since 1913. After that, Love visited the Wright Brothers National Museum in Dayton, where he saw some cool pieces of Ohio history.
Day 3: Cincinnati
Austin's journey across the state is continuing. For the past few days, Austin has spent time at the Dayton KOA Holiday Campground, a perfect spot to spend Memorial Day Weekend.
After leaving the campground, Austin headed out to Cincinnati, where he played cornhole with the founder of the American Cornhole Organization. Austin also checked out Rhinegeist Brewery, which is celebrating its 10-year anniversary. Finally, Austin visited the Reds Hall of Fame at the Great American Ballpark.
Day 4: Columbus
On day 4, Austin visited Columbus with a stop at the Field of Corn in Dublin, followed by a lunch at the Varsity Club near Ohio State's campus. Later in the day, Austin toured Lower.com Field, home of the Columbus Crew. Finally, Austin visited the newest North Market in Columbus which houses 18 vendors with a wide range of foods.
