CAMBRIDGE, Ohio — Truckers have been protesting COVID-19 mandates across North America over the last few months. One group is in the middle of a cross-country ride and will stop through Ohio on Thursday.

The People's Convoy is scheduled to make a stop in Cambridge, Ohio on Thursday evening as part of its 11-day trip across America. The People's Convoy says it is dedicated to ending "the declaration of national emergency concerning the COVID-19 pandemic" and restoring "our nation's Constitution."

The journey started on February 23 in Adalanto, California and is scheduled to arrive in the Washington D.C. area on March 5. The group says it has no plans to ride into the city itself. However, law enforcement officials say they are preparing for the truckers in Washington regardless.

"It’s time for elected officials to work with the blue collar and white-collar workers of America and restore accountability and liberty – by lifting all mandates and ending the state of emergency – as COVID is well-in-hand now, and Americans need to get back to work in a free and unrestricted manner," the organization wrote in a statement on its website.
