WILLARD, Ohio — After reporting that one of their officers “made an unusually high number of traffic stops” to address window tint violations from March 29-31, the Willard Police Department says it was later determined that some of their cruisers were in violation of the same law.

“The tint level in our cruisers was measured, and several were in violation of this tint law,” according to a press release from Willard Police Chief Shannon Chaffins in Huron County. “The vehicles that are in violation will have the problem corrected as soon as possible.”

During the tint-related traffic stops at the end of last month, Willard police say every driver was given a verbal warning if found to be in violation. No citations were issued.

Willard police say that one driver who was stopped, however, was arrested on a 10-count indictment for charges including rape and sexual battery. While police did not release the person’s name, they say his indictment is from Logan County.
