CLEVELAND — The United Black Fund of Greater Cleveland, a charitable organization that provides funding for vital social services in the African-American community, held its annual meeting on Aug. 23 at Severance Hall.
3News anchor and reporter Carmen Blackwell emceed the event, which was a celebration of UBF’s 40th anniversary. Over decades this organization has helped the Greater Cleveland area with workforce development, education, basic needs and social justice.
The event honored August A. Napoli, president and CEO of United Way of Greater Cleveland, with the Judge George W. White Community Leadership Award, a recognition named after the fund’s founder.
“Writing the Story of 40 Years” was the theme for the annual meeting, which also featured a performance by violinist Humble G Tha Fiddla.
There was also a panel discussion that addressed infant and maternal mortality in Cleveland. Experts featured on the panel were:
