Check out Cleveland Asiatown’s latest addition: An eye-catching public artwork that houses a Little Free Library

WKYC Studios is one of the sponsors for SUPER MEGA WONDER 1999

CLEVELAND — There is a new piece of public art to see and a New Little Free Library to visit in Cleveland's Asiatown. Local artist Jordan Wong's SUPER MEGA WONDER 1999 was revealed on April 23 at the Asian Town Center, 3820 Superior Ave.

The inspiration behind the colorful, oversized piece, Wong said in a video, came from the Japanese robot toy model kits he received as a child from his father. It stands 7 feet tall.

The Little Free Library compartment is on the back of the art piece. During the artwork’s reveal, attendees filled the Little Free Library with comic books, graphic novels, children's books, ‘zines, and more.

According to Wong’s website, the purpose behind the public artwork and little library is to inspire the next generation of Asian American artists and creative professionals”.

WKYC Studios along with SPACES, MidTown Cleveland, The Fowler Foundation, Little Free Library, OCA Greater Cleveland/Cleveland Asian Festival, WestCamp, Brandan Baki of 26 Made and Purple Films supported this project.

Wong is a Cleveland-based artist, illustrator and graphic designer. He is also the President of AIGA Cleveland, a professional association for design. For more information on Jordan Wong and his designs, visit www.wongface.com.
