CLEVELAND — The Beck Center for the Arts’ annual Spotlight Gala is always a moment to focus on the power of the arts in Northeast Ohio.
And on July 22, the event was highlighted by live performances, dancers, musicians, singers and even cartoonists -- a fitting way to celebrate the arts classes, performances, exhibits and outreach programming provided to the community by the Beck Center in Lakewood.
3News anchor Maureen Kyle emceed the gala, which was held at Gordon Green in Cleveland.
She began by telling the audience that the Beck Center is near and dear to her heart. Although the Kyle family is often associated with sports because of her football coach dad, Chuck Kyle, she and her siblings leaned more toward the arts as children -- and that’s how she said they became familiar with the Beck Center’s programs and performances.

The George Gund Foundation was also honored during the event for being one of the Beck Center’s longest-term financial supporters. Records show that the foundation made its first grant to the Lakewood Little Theatre/Beck Center for the Arts in 1969.
