CLEVELAND — For over 40 years, Towards Employment, a nonprofit devoted to workforce development, has been empowering and connecting people to careers through training programs and personal coaching. And on Wednesday, June 7, the organization will present its “A Chance To Advance” event at The Agora Theater in Cleveland.
The program will include a musical performance by world-class musician and Cleveland’s own Dominick Farinacci and it will be emceed by deejay Sparky B. The event will also include a raffle. Participants will get a chance to win a 3-night stay in a 4-star hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, with round-trip coach class airfare for two and two tickets to their choice of an upcoming Las Vegas show.
WKYC Studios President and General Manager Micki Byrnes is honorary co-chair of the fundraiser, along with Nordson Executive Vice-President of Human Resources and Community Relations Shelly Peet.
“For that particular night, it’s an opportunity for individuals to come out and celebrate the successes of our achievement,” said Ronnie Cannon, Towards Employment community engagement manager, during an interview on WKYC Studios’ We the People show. The event gives attendees an opportunity “to see exactly what we do and how we go about doing it.”
"A Chance To Advance" will take place on Wednesday, June 7 from 5-7 p.m. at The Agora Theater, located at 5000 Euclid Ave. in Cleveland. Tickets are $50.
And on Saturday, June 17, you can watch trumpeter and composer Dominick Farinacci again during a unique public event titled “Work & Reentry Experience”. This live performance and multi-media work features stories of six Clevelanders with involvement in the criminal justice system and who faced barriers to finding jobs.
