College Now of Greater Cleveland is recruiting mentors. The need is great since Cleveland is now a “Say Yes to Education” Chapter.
Eligible students can get free college tuition but as part of that scholarship, they need a mentor.
To be a mentor, you need a college degree and a willingness to help someone. The requirements include communicating with your mentee with two emails per month and three face to face meetings per year, and even that is flexible. College Now will also provide prompts for those emails.
Three current mentors, all employees of the Cleveland Metropolitan School District, sat down to tell us about their experience. You can watch those interviews in the player above. Our own Russ Mitchell is a mentor and he talks also with Jim Donovan about this experience, also in the player above.
The deadline to sign up is March 1 and you can do that on College Now’s website, www.collegenowgc.org.
