PARMA, Ohio — Parma Fire Department is investigating the cause of a fire that damaged a family home on Sprague Road on Tuesday morning.

The department responded to the scene shortly after 10 a.m. According to a press release from the department, firefighters had trouble using hoses because of how far back the house was from the road. According to the release, the first crews on the scene were pushed back by the force of the fire.

Eventually, with the help of Seven Hills and North Royalton Fire Department, the crews were able to put out the fire.

Though fire crews are still investigating the origin of the fire, PFD said when they arrived on the scene, crews saw heavy fire damage to the garage, with flames spread to the rest of the house. You can see video from the department below, with more footage on their Facebook page.

Thankfully, all three members of the family in the house at the time were able to get out without any injuries. However, neither the family nor firefighters were able to find the family's five cats. PFD is currently making arrangements for the family's lodging at this time.
