PARMA, Ohio — Last night, voters in Parma upheld a controversial pit bull ban by just 21 votes.
But that does not mean it is a done deal.
Mike West with the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections confirmed Wednesday that they are still waiting to count dozens of provisional ballots and potentially hundreds of mail-in ballots.
Those ballots could change the outcome.
More than 11,000 people voted on the controversial issue, which has been around for more than 30 years.
The additional ballots will be counted May 20th.
“And will be part of the certified election results on May 28th” West said. “At that time is when we will find out if the margin is close enough to trigger an automatic recount.”
Last year, Rocky River and Lakewood overturned similar pit bull bans.
