3 Ravenna High School football players diagnosed with Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease

Practice and camps are canceled.

RAVENNA, Ohio -- Football practices have been canceled for Ravenna High School this week after three players were diagnosed with Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease last Monday.

According to the school, players also won't participate in a football camp at Mount Union College. All money will be returned to those who paid for the camp.

Practice will resume July 30 and staff will clean the team's practice areas in the meantime.

Hand, Foot and Mouth Disease is common among young children. It is contagious and has no cure, according to Mayo Clinic.

Common signs of the disease include:

  • Sore throat
  • Fever
  • Painful, red blisters on tongue, gums and cheeks
  • Red rash on hands and feet
  • Loss of appetite
