Portage County man files for restraining order against neighbor after being fired at on his own property

Video of the incident shows the couple's neighbor threatening the man with a gun.

ATWATER, Ohio — A video showing a violent outburst from a Portage County woman against her neighbor has led to a restraining order.

Atwater resident Richard Page and his wife Karen say they have had enough after video footage captured shows their neighbor firing shots from a pistol at Richard while he was hunting on his own property.

Richard and Karen say they have been dealing with harassment from the neighbor for 20 years.

3News spoke with the the Pages, who say they have had enough and are taking action in court.

"[The judge] gave me a temporary restraining order and scheduled a hearing for the 28th at 9:30," Richard told 3News. "He said it would be more of a five-year restraining order granted."

It was Karen who pushed her husband of 37 years to call the Sheriff's Department to file the restraining order.

Richard adds, "She's not around my property and can't take photographs of us or our animals."

Karen says she has watched the video many times and she's worried not only for Rich, but her entire family.

"The video where he is running from the gunshots, I knew he had to be scared for running for his life."

The Pages say they are quiet farmers that respect the land and nature. They hunt for food, not for recreation, and all they want is to be left alone on their property without the fear of being attacked by a neighbor willing to fire a gun at them.

They hope that the restraining order will bring peace to their lives, "She clearly stated in her video that her intention is to harass."

WKYC reached out to the Portage County Sheriff's Office, but they were unavailable for comment.
