Ravenna | Juvenile charged for Walmart bomb threat

June 23, 2015: Walmart evacuated after bomb threat on Friday

ID=7783213RAVENNA TOWNSHIP, Ohio -- A juvenile is being charged for calling in a bomb threat to a Walmart on State Route 59 on June 19.

Police say that shortly before 1 a.m., a store employee answered the phone and was told that somebody was coming to the store to set off a bomb.

The caller warned employees not to come to work.

The store contacted the Portage County Sheriffs Office and evacuated customers and employees.

The building was searched by bomb-sniffing K-9s, and no explosive devices were found.

The store remained closed for approximately three hours while the search was conducted.

A juvenile was linked to the incident and is being charged for inducing panic and making false alarms. Both are fifth degree felonies.

The Kent State University Police, Akron University Police and the Youngstown Police Department assisted at the scene.
