STREETSBORO-- It's a common plight for those familiar to selling or buying items online--you've secured a great deal online, but are struggling to find a safe spot to organize the exchange of the items.
Officials in Streetsboro are aiming to remedy those types of situations.
In a post on Facebook on Thursday, the city's police department announced the creation of an "e-Commerce safety zone" in the department's parking lot.
A sign clearly marks the area as the designated zone. The area is monitored by around-the-clock video cameras.
Officers also plan to keep tabs on the area throughout the day.
"Over the past few years, we have seen several cases in the news where individuals are physically harmed in some way during an exchange resulting in an online purchase, typically through Craigslist or Facebook," officials wrote. "These exchanges were taking place at locations where the victim was alone with the attacker."
"Our residents will now have a safe and secure location for their internet sale exchanges," authorities added.
