South Euclid church raises more than $30,000 for Greater Cleveland families in need

The money will be used to prevent evictions, foreclosures and homelessness.

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio — The South Euclid United Church of Christ (SEUCC) with the help of several community partners has raised $34,000 to help Greater Cleveland families in need of housing and rental assistance.

The donations were spearheaded through an initiative titled, "Paid in Full," and under the leadership of SEUCC's senior pastor and teacher Rev. Courtney Clayton Jenkins, raised during the Lenten Season.

On Thursday, the Church announced the donation total and informed the public that the funds would assist approximately 70 families across Cuyahoga County in an effort to combat evictions, foreclosures and homelessness amid the ongoing pandemic.

“It is humbling to witness the extravagant generosity that the members of South Euclid UCC continue to provide,” says Rev. Jenkins. “We are a church that actively practices generosity through our year-round B.I.N. Food Pantry, for example, but this pressed even more on the financial stewardship of our church and the generosity of our congregation … during a pandemic. And the church said, ‘yes.’”

The generous donation was made possible in collaboration with Monument Realty, the Cleveland Housing Network and the Church's benevolence fund.
