CLEVELAND — An Akron man is dead and two people, including a minor, sustained "serious" injuries as the result of a single-car crash in a Stark County township on Friday night.
According to the Canton post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol, a 2006 Ford Freestyle driven by Canton resident Dajanique A. Sanders lost control and rolled "several times," crossing over a guardrail on U.S. Route 30 in Perry Township. Alcohol is considered a "factor" in the crash, which remains under investigation.
Akron resident Stencil Archie, 35, was a front seat passenger and was pronounced dead shortly after being transported to a hospital. Troopers say he was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.
Two minors were hurt in the crash, one seriously. The seriously injured juvenile was taken to Altman Hospital before being flown to Akron Children's Hospital. The other child sustained minor injuries and was taken to Akron Children's Hospital as a precaution, troopers say.
Sanders, 27, was taken to a hospital with "serious" injuries.
The highway patrol said Sanders was driving westbound on U.S. 30 when she veered off the right shoulder, then overcorrected and continued off the left side of the roadway, crossing into eastbound lanes before the car rolled over the guardrail.
The highway patrol did not release any further information on the current conditions of Sanders and the juvenile passengers.
