Canton City Fire Department ambulance involved in two-vehicle crash

All three people involved in the incident suffered minor injuries. The crash remains under investigation.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a minor crash that took place on Tuesday morning involving three Canton residents and an ambulance.

At approximately 11:00 a.m., Tyson K. Cook, 26, along with passenger Meloni Thompson, 32, were operating a Canton City Fire Department ambulance traveling westbound on 11th Street SE. 

Cook and Thompson were responding to an emergency medical call in the City of Canton with emergency lights and siren activated.

Richard A. Haynam, 79, was driving a green Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck traveling northbound on Cherry Avenue when he entered the intersection of 11th Street and struck the passenger side of the ambulance. 

Haynam sustained minor injures during the crash and was transported to Aultman Hospital by Canton City Fire Department ambulance.

Cook and Thompson sustained what are being called "possible injuries" as a result of the incident. Both were evaluated by medical professionals at the scene. They were not transported to a hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.
