Ohio State Highway Patrol: Canton man killed in fatal crash

Ohio State Highway Patrol officials say the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

NORTH CANTON, Ohio — Ohio State Highway Patrol troopers are investigating after a man was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Friday in Stark County.

Troopers say the crash happened at 5:14 a.m. on 12th Street in Perry Township when a 2002 Acura TL traveled off the right side of the road and then off the left side of the road, striking a tree. 

The driver, who has been identified by the Stark County Coroner's Office as 35-year-old Derrick Hill of Canton, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Officials say that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. 

The Ohio State Highway Patrol was assisted at the scene by the Perry Township Fire and EMS, Perry Police Department and Tracers Towing.
