Car slams into Canton Township house

Authorities say drugs are believed to be a factor in the crash.

STARK COUNTY, Ohio — Authorities are investigating after a 38-year-old woman crashed a 2016 Hyundai Santa Fe into a Canton Township home Sunday night.

It happened around 9:13 p.m. at a home on state Route 800 near 37th Street in Canton Township.

The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the woman was “traveling at a high rate of speed when she ran off the left side of the roadway and went airborne into a house.”

A 17-year-old boy, who was inside the home, was taken to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening, authorities said.

The driver, identified as a woman from Mineral City, Ohio, was not hurt in the crash.

“Drugs were retrieved from the vehicle and appear to be a factor in the crash,” authorities said.

The Canton Township Fire Department and EMS assisted at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation. No additional details were immediately available.
