MASSILLON, Ohio — A man has been arrested and charged with multiple felonies and misdemeanors after leading Massillon police on a high speed chase.
At approximately 3:13 a.m. on Wednesday morning, Massillon police officers attempted to stop a vehicle being driven by Samuel Tyler Parr for a traffic violation in the 7800 block of Hills and Dales Road.
The vehicle failed to stop and attempted to flee from the officer. The officers began pursuit of the vehicle, eventually being assisted by the Ohio State Highway Patrol.
The pursuit came to an end in the 4500 block of Aultman Avenue NW near Greentown, Ohio when the suspect's vehicle rammed into two Massillon police cruisers. After striking the officer's vehicles, the suspect's vehicle came to rest in a nearby ditch. Parr was arrested at that time.
Parr's vehicle reached top speeds near 90 mph during the pursuit before it ended.
He was booked into the Stark County Jail and charged with the following:
Felonies
- Failure to comply with an order or signal of Police Officer
- Obstructing Official Business
- Vandalism
- Tampering with evidence
Misdemeanors
- Operation in willful or wanton disregard to the safety of persons or property
- Receiving stolen property
- Possessing criminal tools
- Operating a motor vehicle without a valid license
- Turn and Stop Signals
The city of Massillon has not disclosed if any officers were injured as a result of the pursuit.
