STARK COUNTY, Ohio — A 20-year-old Canton man, identified as Dakota Stach, has died following a weekend dirt bike crash in Stark County.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says the crash happened around 10:03 p.m. Sunday on Marietta Avenue SE in Canton Township.

Stach was driving a 2006 Yamaha YZ250 northbound “when it traveled off the right side of the road,” striking a mailbox and a utility pole, according to a press release.

“The driver was ejected from the dirt bike and came to rest in a nearby yard,” according to the Ohio Highway Patrol. “A witness stated that the dirt bike was traveling at a high rate of speed before the crash.”

Stach, who was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was taken to the hospital where he later died.

The incident remains under investigation.
