MARLBORO, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol has released photos and body camera video showing the aftermath of a school bus crash in Stark County.
The incident occurred Monday around 2:30 p.m. on Columbus Road Northeast near Beeson Street Northeast in Malboro Township, when troopers say the vehicle went off the road and hit multiple signs before turning over into a ditch. Five Marlington Local Schools students as well as the driver were taken to the hospital, though all have since been released with minor injuries.
The footage from OSHP shows the bus flipped on its right side with damage to the front end and back bumper. Police officers can also been seen walking through the vehicle with the side windows underneath their feet and the roof to the right.
The driver, identified as 58-year-old Hartville resident Debra Weisel, has been placed on administrative leave by the school district and cited by police for failure to control a motor vehicle. 3News Investigates looked at her driving records and found at least eight traffic violations since 1991, including several rear-end collisions and another citation for failure to control.
WKYC has asked Marlington Local Schools for Weisel's personnel file, but has not yet heard back. The crash remains under investigation.
