Perry Township police: Child on bike struck by vehicle

Perry Township police say the child suffered a leg injury and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

STARK COUNTY, Ohio — An investigation is underway after an 11-year-old child was struck by a vehicle in Perry Township.

Perry Township police say the incident happened on Sunday evening at the intersection of 14th Street SW and Brooklyn Avenue SW when the child, who was riding a bicycle, ran a stop sign and was struck by an oncoming vehicle. 

The 11-year-old suffered a leg injury and was taken by the Perry Township Fire Department to Aultman Hospital for treatment. The extent of the child's injuries is currently being assessed. 

Police say that the vehicle's driver remained at the scene and has been cooperating fully with the investigation. At this time, no charges have been filed against the driver. 

In addition, Perry Township police are urging residents and cyclists to "exercise caution when approaching intersections and to always obey traffic signs and signals."

At this time, the incident remains under investigation, and no other information has been released.
