3News has confirmed a Stark County cable worker died after being electrocuted by high-voltage wires while on the job Tuesday.

Harry Campbell, chief investigator for the Stark County Coroner's Office, says the incident occurred at a residence within the 4600 block of Manchester Avenue Southeast in Navarre. Trent Hooper, a 29-year-old employee for Massillon Cable TV, had arrived for work around 3:45 p.m. Tuesday and began stringing cables up a long driveway from the street to a pair of homes.

According to Campbell, Hooper was high up in the boom of a bucket truck stringing the cables through trees when he made contact with high-powered lines. He was killed instantly, and after his wife failed to reach him by phone, she called a friend and coworker of Hooper who went to the scene and eventually located his body in the bucket truck.

An autopsy is being conducted by the Cuyahoga County Coroner's Officer, per Campbell. State and local authorities are investigating the matter, although Campbell says Hooper's death appears to have been an accident.

3News has reached out to MCTV for comment. Campbell tells us Hooper left behind his wife as well as three children.
