The Stark County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday it had made an arrest in a fatal hit-skip incident that occurred more than four months ago.

Twenty-two-year-old East Canton native Alex M. Mound is accused of striking and killing 30-year-old Brianna Lilly, of Canton, with his vehicle. He has been charged with five felonies (including aggravated vehicular homicide) and two misdemeanors, and officials believe he was either drunk or high at the time of the incident.

Lilly had been walking in the area of Mapleton St. Southeast and Dalemont Ave. Southeast in Canton Township when she was hit back on July 14. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

"This arrest reflects our ongoing dedication and commitment to keep Stark County safe," Sheriff George T. Maier said in a statement. "Those who commit crimes in our communities will be held accountable for their actions."

A court date for Mound has not yet been set.
