STARK COUNTY, Ohio — An investigation is underway after the Stark County Sheriff's Office responded to an incident involving a masked man in a costume with a knife.
The Stark County Sheriff's Office says that on Tuesday, Sept. 17, they were called to the 1400 block of Raff Road SW in Canton Township after receiving calls for a person in a costume with a knife.
3News has obtained bodycam video of the incident, which can be watched in the media player at the top of the story.
Upon arriving at the scene, deputies found the suspect, who then brandished a knife at them.
"After a short foot pursuit, Deputies attempted to de-escalate the situation. The suspect failed to comply with the Deputy's orders and ran onto US 30 from Raff Rd SW into passing traffic. Deputies were able to stop traffic to prevent a collision with the suspect," said the Stark County Sheriff's Office in a press release.
Moments later, deputies deployed a Taser to arrest the suspect.
The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Jacob Paul Weisgarber, was charged with the following:
- Two counts of aggravated menacing
- One count of obstructing official business
- One count of inducing panic
- One count of resisting arrest
In addition, he was booked on the following warrants
- Aggravated possession of drugs
- Attempted grand theft
At this time, the investigation remains ongoing.
