CANTON, Ohio — A worker at the TimkenSteel Faircrest Plant in Stark County was seriously injured after being pinned down by steel on Tuesday morning.
According to Perry Township Fire Chief Larry Sedlock, fire crews were dispatched to the plant on Faircrest Street SW at approximately 8:15 a.m. for a call of a fall victim that was pinned.
Once crews arrived, they discovered that the victim was no longer pinned and was being attended to by TimkenSteel personnel. Workers told firefighters that the victim was working on a lift of some sort, when something from above fell on him, causing him to be trapped. The victim was freed by employees.
Sedlock says the victim was taken to Aultman Hospital "and appeared to be in critical condition."
"The Perry Township Fire Department extends our thoughts and prayers to both the victim and his family as well all his coworkers," Sedlock added in his statement to 3News. "Additionally, I would like to thank all the employees that assisted us throughout the incident."
