BARBERTON, Ohio — One person is dead following an incident on one of Barberton's railroad lines Saturday afternoon.
CSX confirms one of its westbound freight trains hit a car on the tracks near Fairview and Norton Avenues around 2:18 p.m., killing the vehicle's driver. The Summit County Coroner's Office has not yet identified the deceased individual.
"Our thoughts are with the individual’s family and we are appreciative of the swift response of first responders," CSX said in a statement, adding the train's crew was unhurt.
