HUDSON, Ohio — An investigation is underway after a house fire killed a man in Hudson.
According to the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office, the fire broke out on Tuesday night at around 9:57 p.m. in the 5700 block of Hudson Drive.
The Hudson Fire Department received a phone call of concerns from residents smelling burning plastic several blocks away. Hudson Fire and Hudson Police eventually located the fire on Hudson Drive.
Upon arriving on the scene, Hudson Fire found a man inside who was taken to Western Reserve Hospital, where he lasted passed away.
According to the City of Hudson, the fire started in the basement of the home.
The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office identified the man as 76-year-old Ronald Rini.
Over 20 firefighters as well as members of Hudson Police and Hudson EMS responded to the scene. The Stow Fire Department, Twinsburg Fire and Valley Fire also assisted at the fire.
