A man has been arrested on multiple charges after an investigation found that he was driving under the influence of illegal drugs and without a valid driver's license when he caused a crash that resulted in a fiery explosion in Green, Ohio, in May.

According to the Summit County Sheriff's Office, Gregory Pree has been charged with Aggravated Vehicular Assault (F-2) and Operating a Vehicle Under the Influence (M-1). He has since been arrested and transported to the Summit County Jail.

Pree's arrest comes as the result of a crash that occurred on the morning of May 12 on I-77 North in the city of Green in Summit County. Driving a commercial dump truck, the 51-year-old Pree left his lane of travel and struck an ODOT vehicle carrying a 64-year-old ODOT employee who had parked the vehicle to remove debris from the road.

Both vehicles burst into flames. Both drivers were transported to area hospitals for their injuries after being extracted from their vehicles.

Following the crash, District 4 Deputy Gery Noirot issued the following statement:

"Early today, an ODOT District 4 Highway Technician was struck alongside Interstate 77 in the City of Green. He was transported to a local hospital and is currently being treated with serious, but non-life threating injuries. We are extremely fortunate he is alive as this could have had a much different outcome. Our thoughts and prayers are with him and his family."
