28-year-old man shot, killed in Saturday afternoon shooting in Stark County

A 28-year-old man who was shot and killed in Plain Township Saturday has now been identified by officials.

The Stark County Sheriff's Office is investigating a fatal shooting that took place over the weekend in Plain Township. 

According to officials, the incident happened around 12:07 p.m. on June 12, when officers responded to an apartment located in the 700 block of West Common Street NE for reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, sheriff's deputies located the body of a 28-year-old man, now identified as David N. Hughson, who had been shot and had died on the scene.

A preliminary investigation done by the Stark County Sheriff's Office revealed that the incident was drug-related, but the matter remains under investigation at this time.
