Ohio State Highway Patrol: Pedestrian struck and killed in Summit County

The fatal crash happened on South Arlington Road in Springfield Township.

AKRON, Ohio — An investigation is underway after a pedestrian was struck and killed in Summit County on Saturday morning.

Ohio State Highway Patrol officials say that the fatal crash happened at 12:17 a.m. on South Arlington Road in Springfield Township when a silver Lexus struck a pedestrian,  who was walking near the edge of the roadway. 

The pedestrian, whose identity has not yet been identified was pronounced dead on the scene by the Summit County Medical Examiner. 

The Springfield Township Police Department, Springfield Township Fire and EMS and the Summit County Sheriff’s Department were on the scene to assist.

At this time, the crash remains under investigation.
