Ohio State Highway Patrol, Summit County Sheriff’s Office conducts drug trafficking operation

Officials say that 21 traffic stops were made and three arrests.

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — Three people were arrested after the Summit County Sheriff's Office and Ohio State Highway Patrol conducted a drug trafficking operation.

Officials say the operation took place on Tuesday, Jan. 23 in the high-traffic area of Coventry Township. During the operation, troopers made 21 traffic stops, two original arrests and one warrant arrest. 

One illegal handgun, fentanyl and suspected opioid pills were seized as evidence.

"The Summit County Drug Unit regularly conducts these operations throughout Summit County. The goal of these operations is to take illegal narcotics and drug traffickers off the streets," said the Summit County Sheriff's Office in a statement. 

Summit County Sheriff's Office officials say that additional charges are pending the outcome of the investigation.
