Stow man pleads guilty to murdering mother, gets 15 years to life in prison

Reeves turned himself in to Stow police following the murder, where detectives say they were able to get him to confess.

A Stow man will serve at least 15 years in prison after pleading guilty Friday to murdering his mother last year, Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced.

Jason Reeves, 22, also pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery and tampering with evidence. Judge Christine Croce immediately sentenced him to 15 years to life.

On Oct. 28, 2017, officials say Reeves killed his 58-year-old mother Susan with a machete while she slept in her Graham Road apartment. He then took his mom's car and drove to a friend's house before waking up a neighbor, who took him to the hospital with a severe cut on his hand. After he was released and driven back to the scene of the crime, he called 911, faking surprise at his mother's death.
