On Tuesday, a Medina man was sentenced to life in prison for the murder of one woman, and the attempted murder of a second victim.
According to Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh, Timothy Sargent was sentenced to life without parole plus an additional 20 to 20 years for the August 2020 shooting death of Rebecca Tomlinson.
Sargent pled guilty to Aggravated Murder with a Gun Specification, Attempted Murder with a Gun Specification, and Having a Weapon Under Disability.

Last year, Sargent was with Tomlinson when he got into an argument with 29-year-old Peter Dulaney at a homeless camp along the Towpath Trail, and shot the man several times during the dispute.
Dulaney survived and later identified Sargent to the police.
Sargent escaped with Tomlinson and another female, and the next day, the three of them were walking near Manchester Road in Akron when Sargent turned to Tomlinson and shot her in the head, killing her.
“Timothy Sargent is the epitome of pure evil. He shot and killed one person and nearly killed another and showed no remorse for his actions. Our community is safer with Timothy Sargent locked up for the rest of his life,” said Prosecutor Walsh. “My hope now is the victims and their families are able to find solace knowing the person who did this will not be able to harm anyone else.”
