The Twinsburg Twins Days Festival, billed as the "largest annual gathering of twins and multiples in the world," is back at Glen Chamberlin Park Friday through Sunday.
Founded in 1976, the festival is a celebration of the city of Twinsburg's heritage and a "vehicle for celebrating the uniqueness of twins and others of multiple birth," organizers state on the event's website.
This year's 49th annual Twins Days Festival theme is "Twindy 500: Off Two the Races!" Organizers say twins and multiple are encouraged to dress "in celebration of the variety of racing throughout the world," like NASCAR, INDY Car, Formula 1 or even races like track & field, bobsled, Soap Box Derby or Mario Kart.
Following a golf outing Friday morning, the fun kicks off at 2 p.m. with a hot dog roast and raffle for twins/multiples and their families only at Twinsburg High School.
Pre-registration for twins and multiples is over, but attendees can still register in person this weekend for a $15 onsite fee in addition to the $15 registration fee.
The main event on Saturday is the "Double Take" costume parade from Twinsburg's town square to the festival grounds at Glenn Chamberlain Park at 9 a.m.. Registration for participating twins/multiples has closed. On Sunday is a 5K Fun Run & Walk at 8:30 a.m. and an interdenominational church service at 9:30 a.m. before the rest of the day's activities including a twins sand volleyball tournament at 12 p.m.
Twins and multiples will also have the opportunity to participate in onsite research conducted by Procter & Gamble's skin care division, West Virginia University and University Hospitals Dermatology. More information can be found by clicking here.
