Summit County car crash leaves woman dead

Officials say the driver, from Stark County, was likely speeding when her vehicle went left of center and wrecked off Tisen Road.

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — A woman is dead following a single-car crash in Summit County late Sunday night.

The sheriff's office says deputies were called to Tisen Road in Springfield Township around 11:15 p.m. for a report of a wreck. A Pontiac G6 was apparently going westbound when it crossed over the center line and went off the road before crashing into a pole.

The driver of the vehicle, a 38-year-old woman from Louisville, was transported by EMS crews to Summa Akron City Hospital with serious injuries and later died. Her name has not yet been released.

At this time, law enforcement officials believe the victim may have been speeding, but the incident remains under investigation.
