Woman rescued by Summit County deputies after being kidnapped and held captive in Coventry Township home

60-year-old John Lent is facing rape and kidnapping charges.

SUMMIT COUNTY, Ohio — A 60-year-old man is facing charges of rape and kidnapping after holding a woman against her will in the basement of a Coventry Township home in Summit County

Summit County Sheriff's deputies say they recieved a pair of 911 calls on Tuesday reporting that a woman was being held captive in the basement of a house on Swartz Road.

A deputy was first told by an elderly man at the house that there were no females inside the home. When the deputy announced “Sheriff’s Office” inside the front door of the home, a female began screaming for help.

A partially clothed female ran up a flight of stairs from the basement. Deputies say a man was chasing the female, attempting to pull her back into the basement.

The 39-year-old female told Summit County Sheriff's deputies that she was being held in the basement against her will and was sexually assaulted. The Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at the residence and found evidence related to the sexual assault.

The female victim was treated at Akron General Medical Center for injuries related to the sexual assault. Two elderly men inside the home were determined to have no knowledge of the incident. Both were identified and released.

60-year-old John Lent of Coventry Township was arrested on charges of Rape (F-1) and Kidnapping (F-1). Lent was booked into the Summit County Jail.
