RAVENNA, Ohio — A suspect has been arrested after a police officer was dragged from a car in North Jackson, Ohio.
Members of the Akron and Youngstown Divisions of the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force (NOVFTF), Ravenna PD, and Portage County Drug Unit arrested Nicholas Roman, 22, following an incident on Wednesday, September 30.
According to police, Roman was involved in a traffic stop on Wednesday night by a North Jackson officer, when during the stop, the 22-year-old allegedly grabbed the officer by the arm and dragged him while driving the vehicle.
The officer was eventually able to free himself from the grasp of the suspect and was taken to the hospital for his injuries.
Members of the NOVFTF located Roman in Ravenna early on Friday morning, finding the 22-year-old hiding in a bathtub and acting non-compliant upon arrest.
Roman will stay at the Portage County jail before eventually being transferred to the Mahoning County jail to face charges of attempted murder and assault against an officer.
U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott stated, “Day in and day out members of the law enforcement community work to keep their communities safe from people like this. Quick work by members of the task force and an outstanding partnership with the local agencies keep criminals like this from being on the run.”
