Trees fall in Toledo as region feels remnants of Hurricane Helene

Multiple trees fell and hit homes in east Toledo and in the Beverly neighborhood in south Toledo Friday afternoon.

TOLEDO, Ohio — Multiple trees have fallen and caused damage in south Toledo Friday afternoon as northwest Ohio feels the remnants of Hurricane Helene, the Category 4 storm that made landfall in Florida Thursday night.

One tree fell onto a home and Yaryan Drive, blocking the street between Circular Road and Rohr Boulevard.

Another tree just south in Beverly Park fell onto a resident's house on Bradford Drive. The homeowner told WTOL 11 she had just bought a new roof a couple of months ago.

The extent of damage to either home is unclear at this time.

Gusty winds of 30-45 mph were expected out of the east or northeast on Friday, according to the WTOL 11 Weather Team.

In East Toledo, a tree was also downed in the street at Dearborn and Mott avenues.

We spoke to some neighbors who live near where some trees fell.

"I was in my room and heard the noise from it, and my daughter texted and said, 'holy cow, the tree fell.' And I come out on the porch and it's blocking the whole street," said local resident Cyrena Mackie.
