The main fire was on the lower part of the lift which was about 30 feet from the building. The bucket was extended through power lines and was about five feet from the attic of the nursing home.

The fire was put out as the rescue was taking place.

Residents who were closest to the fire were moved to another part of the building.

Fifty three residents and three staff members of the nursing home were moved to a neighboring church until the incident was brought under control.

The State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting in the investigation.
