LAKE COUNTY, Ohio — United Way of Lake County (UWLC) is making sure that people are fed during the difficult and ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
"Prior to the onset of the pandemic, 1 in 9 Lake County residents lived with food insecurity," says a press release from UWLC, "some Lake County food pantries are now reporting increases in need ranging from 50% to 90% since COVID-19 hit."
That is why UWLC has announced that they will give away roughly 25,000 pounds of food to Lake County food pantries this Wednesday, September 23.
The food was purchased with funds raised during the UWLC Annual Feed Lake County Food Drive, which occurred in the spring.
According to the release from UWLC, the food is enough to provide an estimated 24,895 meals to Lake County citizens.
