Sheffield Lake Unzipped: Exploring the 44054 zip code from Brookside High School to Doughboy's Pizza

Austin Love explores what Sheffield Lake and Sheffield Village has to offer.

SHEFFIELD LAKE, Ohio -- Located on the west shores of Lake Erie, the 44054 is a little slice of heaven.

A modest population of roughly 13,000 people between Sheffield Lake and Sheffield Village, it has small-town values.

“The community is so tight-knit. Everybody knows each other," says Sheffield Lake resident and Brookside High School Senior, Dominic Martin.

The community isn't short on beautiful views, parks or nature. The French Creek Nature Center offers endless trails through the terrain of the Lorian County Metro Parks.

At the center of both communities is Brookside High School. On a fall Friday night, the stadium packs the stands under the lights. It's a small school with a lot of spirit thanks to the Brookside Marching Band.

“Fridays are the best because you know you’re going to march and perform in front of the whole entire community. You’re amped up and ready to go."

A hot spot after the games? Doughboy's Pizza & Wings on Lake Road. They have been serving the 44054 since 2001.

Ryan Sanchez started Doughboy's when he was just 20 years old. Like the rest of the town, the shop isn't huge, but the pies don't lie. Each are handmade, cooked to perfection, sliced and ready to enjoy.
